A Journey That Started Before Birth
Before Cameron was even born, his family learned he had double inlet left ventricle (DILV) — beginning a journey they never expected.
At just 5 days old, Cameron underwent his first open-heart surgery (Norwood), followed by his Glenn procedure at 16 weeks old. His earliest months were filled with challenges including ECMO support, long hospital stays, procedures, and difficult setbacks.
After finally coming home at 18 weeks old, only 28 days later Cameron was readmitted in severe heart failure.
Finding Strength Through the Hard Days
What followed was a journey of appointments, medications, therapies, lifestyle changes, and continuing to fight through uncertainty.
Little by little, Cameron’s family watched him grow stronger.
After months that felt impossible, Cameron officially came out of heart failure and began doing what every child deserves to do — thrive.
Today, Cameron is known for so much more than his diagnosis. He’s a busy toddler who loves being with his sister and two brothers and making the most of every day.
Preparing for Fontan
Now at 3 years old, Cameron is preparing for another major milestone — his Fontan surgery.
After many long and difficult conversations, Cameron’s family made the decision to move his care to Boston, six hours from home, hoping to give him the best path forward.
In just three years, Cameron has already undergone two open-heart surgeries, two cardiac catheterizations, multiple cardiac MRIs, and more echocardiograms than his family can count.
As they head into this next chapter, their hope is simple: a smooth recovery, minimal complications, and more time for Cameron to continue living his very best life.
